How To Reach Leh

There are two ways to go to Leh. One is Srinagar-Kargil-Leh and the other is Manali-Sarchu-Leh. You can also go to Leh by plane. There are direct flights to Leh from some places in India like Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh etc. If you want to go by train, you have to reach Jammu or Chandigarh and then travel further to reach Leh. Due to its high altitude, many tourists come up to Srinagar and then reach Leh via Kargil. Ladakh is the highest plateau in India and most of the part is over 3000 meters (9800 ft). Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) due to lack of oxygen at high altitude is reduced , if you go via Srinagar-Kargil-Leh. You can take this unforgettable journey by car or bike.

Best Time to Visit Ladakh Region 

If you want to go to Ladakh, preferably choose the period from June to September. Although, elsewhere in India there is a monsoon climate, in Ladakh it is a summer season. With the tireless efforts of the BRO (Border Road Organisation), every year, the snow accumulated on the road is removed by the end of April or 15-20th of May and only then the road from Srinagar to Leh begins for all. Some of the enthusiastic tourists do sightseeing or Chaddar-trek mainly during winter season even in the extreme cold (-5 to -55 degrees Celsius). But for general tourists, the period from June to September is considered best time to visit Leh Ladakh.
